It is sweet how the Lord prepares your heart for the things ahead. Subtly. Softly. Consistently — if you let Him.

This semester has been filled with anxiety about the things ahead ... jobs, apartments, moving, post graduation life. I have been wrestling with my pride and fear of the unknown. I questioned if God could be good even if I ended up not having the things I think I need or the life I thought I’d have. Deep down I was trying to understand if He could be enough for me ... truly enough ... Jesus plus nothing.

Danny and I met the summer of 2014, interning at Long Hollow Baptist Church in Hendersonville, Tennessee.  We grew close and got to know each other through one of the hardest summers of our lives, as we worked intensively in the student ministry.  People would make comments to the both of us about liking each other. One of my best friends, Taylor Flatt, even told me I had “heart eyes” for Danny Hardy.  It’s funny how your friends know things before you do.

It was way too hot outside yet I was too excited to care because I was going to be in Texas for the entire summer as a camp counselor. As soon as I arrived to the camp I met this sweet outgoing girl, Chelsea, in the cabin after putting up our suitcases. We exchanged names and laughter. Right then and there I told her that she was going to be in my wedding someday. Little did I know she was about to introduce me to my future husband just ten minutes later.

Happy 2018!One of my favorite things to do is pick a word of the year! If we are being honest, by the end of January I am not thinking of my word of the year, my goals, and I am convinced I have done all my workouts for the year already!

When I think back on this year I am reminded of the hurt and pain that our country has walked through. This year has been filled with many destructive events that have caused so many sleepless nights and heart wrenching moments. Whether it’s been mass shootings, hurricanes, forest fires, racial riots and protests, a family member being unable to enter the country, or political outrage, our country has faced some very hard days.

If you are anything like me, your calendar is probably already starting to fill up with holiday parties and festivities, family plans for Thanksgiving, dinners with other friends, church gatherings, Friendsgivings, some photography sessions on the side, gifts to start buying and lots of bakeing.  Oh, and don’t forget trying to decorate your house for Christmas in a way that would make Joanna Gaines proud, while also trying to stay on a budget. I know it’s only the beginning of November, but this past week my heart has started to feel very anxious about our schedule for the next two months.
